Yes, I know Scripture says to keep it holy, but there are weeks that I have found it hard to just KEEP it, let alone keeping it holy. Sigh…..
However, a quick encouragement to you – since we’ve started this entrepreneurial adventure, we have been working such long hours that we’ve recommitted to aggressively keeping the Sabbath – and keeping it well.
So, every Saturday evening at 7 pm, the Clarks settle down for Sabbath. We break bread together, we share the cup and we spend time eating and discussing the things that the Lord has done in this past week, as well as whatever Scripture Jeff brings to the table.
We set the table in Sabbath dishes (cheap!) and we have our dinner by candle light. Our time together is completely unrushed.
I can not begin to put into the words the sweetness of doing this. If I could, I’d package it up and deliver it to each of you, just so you could know how wonderful it can be.
Since I sadly can not, may I just offer to each of you Sabbath blessings – that the Lord might make Himself known to you this weekend, as you prepare your hearts for next week. I pray that He would make known the beauty of the Sabbath rest to you, as well as the peace of stopping and simply thinking of Him and His goodness.
How gracious, how kind and how lovely that Father has blessed His children with the Sabbath.
Blessed art Thou, O’ Lord our God, King of the Universe, who brings forth bread from the Earth! For it is Your plan that we, Your created, should revel in your time of rest!!
