Preparing the soil ~

In addition to posting questions we’d like to discuss, I’d like to ask you to post any Scripture you study/read/meditate on over the next few weeks that is helping you (or might help someone else) as we prepare to discuss grace based parenting.

(The focus doesn’t need to be on parenting – but rather on our Parent and His character.)

    Although not a “regular” here, I wanted to put forth Psam 103. It is so rich in describing our Parent’s character, especially His MERCY.
    ..”who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
    Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with loving-kindness and tender mercies;
    Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
    ….The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
    ….Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.
    For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.

    Those are just parts of that one Psalm and a full lesson indeed on my Parent and my parenting. Dawn, this is the most helpful series at this point of my parenting – you cannot even know!!! I bought the book the day before you announced you’d be starting it.
    Blessings to all!

    DawnP – I love the Psalms. They are just so soothing to my soul!! Thank you for sharing. (You know, sharing twice pretty much qualifies you as a “regular.” You don’t have to show up as often as Norm did on Cheers to get that reputation around here. 🙂 So, open the frig, the pot is on, and the water in the kettle is hot. Help yourself!)
    I found the T/M books to be ABUNDANTLY helpful – for the first time someone was putting REAL feet to what God was teaching me. I’m so glad you’re finding them helpful!! Hope you’ll pop back in to share what you’ve gleaned from them, as we discuss the book. 🙂

    This morning’s Lent reading for me from Ephesians 4: 25 – 5:2… the highlights:

    “…but only such a word that is good for edification accoreding to the need of the moment, so that it will give GRACE to those who hear.”
    and
    “… walk in love… an offering and sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma…”
