Quick note

Please email me just to make sure I got all the books ordered correctly.  As the notes came in, I wrote them onto a piece of paper.  All weekend I have been feeling like I left someone out.  (look of consternation) I spent the day sifting through my inbox to make sure – but the feeling won’t go away.   ???

Tiff – I know you said your email was on the fritz – I got you, I know that.  🙂

Oh yay! I’m very excited. Still have fritzy email though…..

  2. javadawn says:

Yeah, but you’ll soon have a book to occupy you while your email is on the fritz. 😀

  3. Hi! I was wondering if you could tell me a little more about what you are doing. Are you having an online discussion about the book “Say Goodbye to Whining, Complaining…,” by Turansky and Miller? If so, can I possibly join in? I already have that book. Thanks! 🙂

  4. javadawn says:

Anne, we sure are – we’d LOVE to have you. We’re planning on starting on Monday am with chapter one.

  5. Thank you for extending such a warm invitation- I would love to join in! I assume that I need to read Chapt. 1 before Monday morning… hmmm, better get crackin’!

  6. Michelle says:

I just got my copy of T&M in the mail today. I’ve already read chapter 1 and I’m really excited to start this book discussion!

  7. javadawn says:

Michelle – you’ve never read it before, then? I think you’ll enjoy the book and the discussion. 🙂 (I know for a fact by the time we’re done, EVERYONE will feel like they’re doing a better job of parenting. If for no other reason than hearing how many times I’ve dorked up at it.) 😀

  8. Michelle says:

No, I first heard of it sometime last year on Michelle Geffken’s library loop; but (a) didn’t have the time, (b) didn’t have the money, (c) was a little gun-shy about yet another parenting book/program (because they’ve worked OH SO WELL for us in the past…sigh.)

Out of curiosity, how old were your kids when you started this new way of looking at parenting? (I know I’m starting this discussion a little early, just looking for hope that it’s not too late with the bigs.)

  9. Jenna says:

Ok, when are we starting the discussion again? My brain has been on hiatus lately, and I don’t want to accidentally show up late! *grins*

I haven’t read the book before either, but I think that this sounds like a lot of fun. I think it is so nice to read together with other women and bounce ideas around. 🙂

  10. Michelle says:

I *think* we’re starting Monday. Check back and see what you can find!

  11. Javadawn says:

Michelle – we started into this about 5 yrs ago – our oldest was almost 13. Does that help? 🙂 (Don’t give up hope)

Jenna – yep (nodding) Monday am. By Tuesday at noon, we all ought to be perfect parents. (rofl)

  12. rindy says:

this sounds really good–will try to get my hands on a copy and join in!

  13. javadawn says:

Rindy ~ Oh we’d love to have you join us. The first chapter is an easy and fast read. Even if you don’t have a copy by Monday, you can still kind of hang out, offer your input and still EASILY catch up for the next week.

  14. reneegrace says:

yeah, my book arrived today… I got “The Quotidian Mysteries” as well, so maybe I’ll read that once I finish my one allotted chapter! 🙂

  15. javadawn says:

ReneeGrace, if you’re feeling the pull to just take off and read, that is ALWAYS allowed in my family when we’re discussing a book. Now in a really good read-aloud, you’re stuck waiting for the rest of us. 😀

(BUT reading QM sounds pretty inviting as well.)

  16. April says:

Hey — just wanted to let you know that I’m going to join in this discussion, but my book won’t be here til Wed. I’ll be lurking til I get some reading done on it — I know I’ll be learning a lot even if I don’t have the book right away.

  17. winkies6 says:

I just wanted to give a HUGE thank you to whoever decided to help out with getting people books! Dawn, I trust you will pass this on for me/us? Thank you!!

  18. javadawn says:

I told them already – but will happily do so again. 😀
